What does a monthly bookkeeper actually do?
Each month we pull your bank and credit card activity into QuickBooks Online, categorize every line to the correct account, match deposits to invoices and payments to bills, and reconcile each account to the penny against the statement. Then we review the trial balance for anything unusual: a vendor coded to the wrong account, a missing loan payment, an owner draw that looks like an expense.
The difference with a CPA doing this work is the review step. A bookkeeper can categorize transactions; a CPA knows which categorization changes your tax bill, which balance sheet accounts auditors and lenders look at, and how a mistake in March shows up on your return in April.
