Why does a correct QuickBooks setup matter so much?

Nearly every cleanup we do traces back to a setup problem: a chart of accounts copied from a template with 200 accounts nobody uses, sales tax turned on wrong, or a Desktop migration that duplicated every customer. Setting up correctly costs a few hundred dollars once. Cleaning up a bad setup after two years costs thousands and delays your tax return.

What's included in QuickBooks training?

We train on your file, not a demo. In a 90-minute session we cover the five things most owners do weekly: matching bank feed transactions, creating and sending invoices, recording bills and payments, handling owner draws and contributions, and running the three reports that matter. You get a recording and a one-page checklist. Staff training for A/R or A/P roles is available as an add-on.

Can you migrate my data from QuickBooks Desktop?

Yes. We use Intuit's migration tool where it works cleanly, then verify the balance sheet, A/R, A/P, and inventory match the Desktop file before you go live. Where the migration tool would carry over years of mess, we recommend starting the Online file with clean opening balances and keeping the Desktop file for reference.

Which QuickBooks Online plan should I get?

Most service businesses are fine on Simple Start or Essentials. You need Plus for inventory, project profitability, or budgets. We'll recommend the cheapest plan that fits and can usually get you a wholesale discount through our ProAdvisor account.

How long does setup take?

A straightforward new-company setup takes about a week. Migrations from Desktop or spreadsheets with history take two to three weeks.

Can I do my own bookkeeping after setup?

Absolutely, and many clients do. We also offer a quarterly review where we check your work, fix small issues, and keep you tax-ready without the cost of full monthly service.
